Powell City Councilmember Christina Drummond announced her resignation on Tuesday, February 18, stepping down from her seat effective immediately. Drummond, who has served on Council since the fall of 2021, cited a need to focus on her family’s health as the reason for her departure.
In her resignation letter, Drummond reflected on the accomplishments made during her tenure. She highlighted key projects she supported, including improvements to Powell’s road and path networks, modernization of the city’s website and technology infrastructure, and the acquisition of Bennett Farm for future generations to enjoy as a park. Additionally, she expressed her excitement about Powell’s first tornado sirens being installed this spring.
Dedication to the Powell Community
City Manager Andy White commended Drummond for her dedication and contributions to the city.
“Christina has made a positive impact on the Powell community during her time on City Council,” White said. “She served as the chair of the Operations Committee, is a member of the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Committee’s (MORPC) Regional Data Advisory Council (RDAC), and was focused on important initiatives involving regional collaboration, transportation, economic development, and trail connectivity.”
Drummond’s commitment to Powell extended beyond her Council seat, with her efforts helping shape city infrastructure and long-term planning.
The Path Forward for Powell City Council
Drummond’s resignation leaves a vacancy on Powell City Council, and city officials will soon announce how they plan to fill the position. The transition comes as Powell continues to implement initiatives aimed at enhancing local infrastructure, connectivity, and quality of life for residents.
As the city moves forward, Drummond’s influence will remain evident in Powell’s ongoing projects, serving as a testament to her contributions during her time in office.
