The City of Powell is hosting the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 AM on Monday, November 12 at the Greater Powell Veterans Memorial in Village Green Park, 47 Hall Street.

The program will feature keynote speaker Sgt. John Bernans, who served in the military from 1960 through 1966. Bernans served with the 3rd Marine Division in the jungles of Vietnam in 1965 and has continued his public service in the community in the Fire/Paramedic Services for 40 years. Sgt. Bernans also served as the first full-time Fire Chief for the Liberty Township Fire Department.[widgets_on_pages id=1]

The program will also feature recent brick placement recognition, and vocal and instrumental performances from Village Academy.

A complimentary luncheon will be served following the Ceremony at the Powell Municipal Building East Room for all veterans, military personnel, family and friends. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved inside the Municipal Building Council Chambers.

The Greater Powell Veterans Memorial is a place for reflection and remembrance of those who served the country. Veterans can be remembered and honored through the Greater Powell Veterans Memorial Brick Program. Veteran bricks feature the honoree’s name, branch of service, the name of the war in which he or she fought, specific achievement or years of service.
