Big Walnut High School is kicking off its fall theatre season with a hilarious rendition of The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood. This clever retelling of the beloved legend promises a night of comedy, witty banter, and unexpected twists, all staged in the heart of Sherwood Forest. The show is set to run for two performances in early November at the Big Walnut High School Performing Arts Center.

A New Spin on a Classic Hero

The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, written by Mary Lynn Dobson, offers a wildly entertaining and exaggerated take on the legendary hero’s story. The show features Robin Hood in an entirely new light—he’s still the familiar heroic figure, but with an ego as big as his sense of justice.

The play is filled with outlandish characters, including a damsel-in-distress more concerned with her complexion than her safety, a bumbling sheriff obsessed with bowling, and a self-absorbed villain vying for the crown. Even Robin’s Merry Men bring their own brand of chaos, armed not with swords, but with spoons! The story’s tone is reminiscent of classic Monty Python humor, making it a perfect choice for those who love satire and unexpected laughs.
