A Championship to Remember

The Olentangy Liberty Patriots clinched their first-ever state football championship on Friday, December 6, 2024, defeating Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller 28-14 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. The victory was the culmination of a season of dedication, teamwork, and remarkable athletic performances.

Key Highlights from the Game:

  • Quarterback Andrew Leonard was electric, throwing for 260 yards and three touchdowns.
  • Wide receiver Christian Moulton dominated with 161 receiving yards on eight catches, including three touchdown receptions.
  • Running back Jake Struck opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
  • The offensive line stood strong, enabling Leonard to exploit Moeller’s formidable defense.

On defense, the Patriots held firm against Moeller’s high-powered offense, led by Ohio Mr. Football winner Matt Ponatoski. Key plays, including a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown by Cooper Gearhart, helped keep Liberty in control of the game.

This win marked Olentangy Liberty’s first state championship in football, a crowning achievement for a program that had reached the semifinals in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Don’t miss this chance to honor the team and their historic accomplishment. Let’s come together to celebrate the hard work, spirit, and talent that brought a state title to Powell!
