The 2019/2020 Delaware County Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) is being conducted with public-school districts across Delaware County.

This health survey is being given to students in grades 6–12 and is organized by the Delaware General Health District (DGHD). The survey will be taken electronically online during school hours with support from your school district. The survey will ask questions about student health such as injuries and violence, eating and exercise habits, sadness/suicide, sexual activity, and alcohol and other drug use.

Completing this survey will cause little or no risk to children. Students will not put their names on the survey. No student or school names will be put in the final report with the results.

The anonymous information collected from the survey will be compiled by the DGHD’s contractor, Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio. Only county wide data will be reported on from all four school districts across Delaware County. Students will be advised to see a Guidance Counselor in the building if they would like to discuss the survey or need assistance.

Your child will get no benefit from taking the survey. However, the results of this survey are used by community organizations to help reduce harmful teen behaviors that impact your child’s health. Results of the survey will be listed on the Delaware General Health District’s website in early spring, 2020.

Your child’s school would like as many students to participate in the survey as possible, but participation is voluntary and optional. No action will be taken against students, parents/guardians or the school if your child does not participate. Students can skip any questions they don’t want to answer, and they can stop taking the survey at any time. If you would like to see the survey, a copy is available at your school’s main office.
