Young basketball enthusiasts across central Ohio will soon lace up their sneakers and hit the hardwood at one of the most anticipated youth sports camps of the season. From June 9–12, Ohio Wesleyan University’s Branch Rickey Arena will be home to the annual Boys Basketball Camp, a four-day event designed to teach, inspire, and entertain aspiring athletes from 2nd through 8th grade.

Split Sessions Cater to Every Skill Level

The camp is divided into two sessions tailored to different age groups:

  • Session 1 (9 AM–12 PM): 2nd–5th grade boys
  • Session 2 (1 PM–4 PM): 6th–8th grade boys

This format allows for small group instruction and competitive 3×3 and 5×5 games, ensuring that each participant gets personalized coaching and plenty of time on the court.

More Than Just Basketball

The camp is built on two foundational goals:

  1. To create a fun and engaging environment for young boys to enjoy the game.
  2. To teach essential basketball skills and fundamentals that will elevate each player’s performance.

Campers will be coached by Ohio Wesleyan’s basketball staff along with current and former OWU players—offering participants high-level instruction from those who’ve played and coached the game at the collegiate level.

Location, Cost, and What to Bring

The camp will be held at Branch Rickey Arena in Delaware. The cost is $165 per camper, which includes a camp t-shirt. Discounts are available for families with multiple campers or for teams registering together.

Campers should bring a comfortable pair of basketball shoes and a water bottle (though water and Gatorade will be available for purchase on-site).

Registration is now open. Interested families can click here to sign up, and those with questions or in need of discount information are encouraged to contact Camp Director David Vogel at davogel@owu.edu.

An Unforgettable Basketball Experience

While the camp is not officially affiliated with Ohio Wesleyan University, it has become a beloved fixture on the summer calendar for local families and budding athletes. With a mix of instruction, competition, and camaraderie, the Boys Basketball Camp @ OWU is the perfect way to kick off summer and level up your game.
