The wait is almost over for those anticipating shooting rounds of microchipped golf balls and engaging in other entertainment options.
The 65,000 square foot Topgolf, the second in Ohio, is poised to open at 2000 Ikea Way before the end of October, according to postings on social media.
Through the premium experience of play, food and beverage and music, Topgolf inspires people of all ages and skill levels – even non-golfers – to come together for playful competition. Guests can enjoy point-scoring golf games in over 100 bays using microchipped balls that instantly score themselves, showing players the accuracy and distance of their shots on a TV screen in their hitting bay. Topgolf venues feature a chef-driven menu, top-shelf drinks, big screen TVs, flexible private event spaces and music in climate-controlled hitting bays for all-seasons comfort. Like Topgolf’s other locations, at least 500 jobs have been created with this venture. In fact, its economic output in the Columbus and southern Delaware County area alone is expected to exceed $264.5 million over a 10-year-period, according to a third-party audit.
“The success of our Cincinnati venue has paved the way for additional growth in Ohio,” said Topgolf Chief Development Officer Chris Callaway. “With the strong economy and continued growth in Columbus, we are excited to bring our all-seasons venue to the area for the local community to enjoy.”
In its first year, Topgolf’s location in West Chester near Cincinnati saw more than 500,000 visits and hosted approximately 2,200 private events that ranged from corporate outtings, birthday parties and more.
Callaway estimates that Topgolf Columbus will serve approximately 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Approximately half of all Topgolf guests describe themselves as “non-golfers.”
