As the holiday season approaches, Sunbury/Big Walnut Area Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its annual “Christmas on the Square” celebration. This beloved event, scheduled for December 2, promises to transform the heart of Sunbury into a winter wonderland, complete with a range of activities suitable for all ages.

Craft Fair and Parade

One of the major attractions, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, is the Craft & Gift Fair, an opportunity for visitors to explore unique gifts and crafts. Limited to 12 vendors, early registration is encouraged for those interested in showcasing their products. Additionally, the Lighted Musical Christmas Parade, starting at 5:30 PM, is a spectacle not to be missed. Featuring illuminated floats and musical performances, it’s a delightful experience for the community.

Diverse Activities to Enliven the Celebration

The event isn’t just about shopping and parades. Attendees can enjoy ice sculpting demonstrations, holiday music from DJ Meeko, a live nativity scene, and even horse and carriage rides. There’s also a festive sock drive, food vendors, and the Sunbury Lions Club Christmas Tree Sale, ensuring a day full of holiday spirit.

Adding to the excitement, the Santa Dog Costume Contest at 6:30 PM invites pet owners to dress their dogs in Santa-themed outfits. The night also features a tree-lighting ceremony at 7:00 PM and a Donut Eating Contest, offering fun and competition for everyone.

After the parade, families have the chance to meet Santa inside the Town Hall. It’s a perfect photo opportunity, so visitors are encouraged to bring their cameras.
