This year, the Rotary Club of Westerville is hosting a grand Independence Day celebration on Tuesday, July 4. For a detailed look at the day’s activities, head over to the Rotary’s website. Live updates, safety messages, and program adjustments will be tweeted by the City of Westerville on their Twitter account.

An All-Day Affair

The Parade

The festivities kick off at 10:30 a.m. with a parade that promises to color Uptown Westerville with hues of patriotism. The parade route begins at St. Paul Catholic Church, meanders south on State Street, and finally concludes at Electric Avenue.

The Festivities at Westerville Sports Complex

At 4 p.m., the Westerville Sports Complex at 325 N. Cleveland Ave. comes alive with a variety of programs. Starting from 5 p.m., the City will unveil the “Fun Zone” – a free event packed with entertaining activities. Try your hand at the bungee run, engage in a thrilling game of Hungry Hippos, or test your baseball pitch skills. The spotlight of the Fun Zone? A giant inflatable slide!

The City will also host an array of food trucks and lawn games at the South end of the Community Center throughout the evening.

Food Trucks, Concerts, and Fireworks

At 5 p.m., the food trucks roll in, the concert series begins, and the free Fun Zone opens at the Sports Complex. Cap the day off at 10 p.m. with a mesmerizing professional fireworks show that will light up the night sky.

Getting to the Festivities

To ensure a smooth flow of events, there will be road closures and specific parking arrangements.

For the Parade

State Street will be closed between County Line Road and Electric Avenue starting at 9 a.m. The Westerville Division of Police will reopen the road once the parade concludes. Rest assured, parking in Uptown is free.

For the Evening Festivities

County Line Road will be closed around 3 p.m. in two segments: between Alkyre Run Drive and Cleveland Avenue, and between Executive Campus Drive and Cleveland Avenue.

Parking is available at the Westerville Community Center (350 N. Cleveland Ave.) after 4 p.m. You may also find additional parking at nearby businesses unless marked otherwise (watch out for signage). Check the event map for other parking options in the area.

Please note, Heritage Park will be closed to vehicular traffic and parking for the event.

Join friends and family for a day of fun-filled activities, mouth-watering food, and captivating performances. Let’s celebrate Independence Day in a way that only the Westerville can do!
