Westerville residents have an opportunity to step into civic leadership as the City opens applications for several boards and commissions. These volunteer roles play a direct part in shaping how the community grows, manages its resources, and preserves its character.

Open Seats

Beginning December 31, 2025, the City will have vacancies on the following boards:

  • Planning Commission – 1 vacancy, 4-year term
  • Board of Zoning Appeals – 2 vacancies, 4-year term
  • Parks & Recreation Advisory Board – 2 vacancies, 3-year term
  • Uptown Review Board – 2 vacancies, 3-year term
  • Personnel Review Board – 1 vacancy, 3-year term
  • Volunteer Firefighters Dependents Board – 2 vacancies, 1-year term

Who Can Apply

Any resident who has lived within the corporate limits of Westerville for at least six months, is a registered voter, and does not currently hold another city office or board seat may apply. All meetings will be held in person.

Why It Matters

Serving on a board or commission offers residents a chance to guide city planning, recreation programs, zoning decisions, and more. These roles give everyday citizens a seat at the table, ensuring that Westerville’s future is shaped by those who call it home.
