The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) recognized Westerville Parks & Recreation this past week as a “Best of the Best” practicing agency as part of the City’s Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) accreditation renewal.

Fewer than 1% of accredited organizations receive the “Best of the Best” designation.

The CAPRA accreditation lasts for five years. The City has held this distinguished accreditation since 2005. Agencies are rated every five years based on compliance with 151 rigorous standards.

CAPRA provides quality assurance and improvement of accredited park and recreation agencies throughout the United States by providing agencies with a management system of best practices. It is the only national accreditation of park and recreation agencies and is considered a valuable measure of an agency’s overall quality of operation, management and service to the community.
