Another chapter in the saga of all things Ohio and COVID-19 began today.
Governor Mike DeWine shared two announcements on Thursday related to the pandemic, one extending a previously announced initiative and the other introducing a new one.
As promised earlier in the week, DeWine extended the state’s current 10:00PM curfew out until January 2, thereby impacting any New Year’s Eve festivities. Variances from this curfew were granted for certain professional sporting events.
The new program announced today was “Stay Safe Ohio,” referred to as a protocol in that its provisions are advisory only and without any enforcement mechanism. Saying that Ohio is now facing “the most important three weeks” of the health crisis, DeWine asked Ohioans to follow these over the next three weeks:
- Stay at home unless traveling for household essentials, work, school, or medical care
- Wear your mask when out of your household and when infected with COVID-19
- Socially distance
- Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds
- Work from home
- Celebrate from home and celebrate small
- Don’t eat or drink with anyone outside your household
- Limit travel
- Postpone gatherings or go virtual
- Enjoy safe holiday activities
