Preservation Parks is in need of your input as it sets out to construct a new portion of the Ohio to Erie Trail in the Sunbury area.

Comments are sought on the proposal, which will be funded through grants and through general funding of Preservation Parks.

The plan is to construct 1,500 feet of rail-trail along with a 220 feet pedestrian trail over a converted railroad bridge over Big Walnut Creek. The width of the asphalt trail will be 10 feet, with composite decking and with timber rails on the bridge.

This section of the Ohio to Erie Trail is one of the last sections missing statewide along the path’s 326 mile length. This is also part of the proposed Great American Rail-Trail.

There are two ways to provide input. Send comments to: [email protected], or attend an online Public Forum next Monday, February 22 at 7 PM. Also that evening, public comment will be accepted on the McCammon Creek Park Pedestrian Bridge Project — we will share information on that project later in the week.

You are advised to register for this meeting as space is limited and seats are filling up fast. You can do so here, where you can also find Zoom and phone access information.
