Did you know that each month you have the opportunity to experience train travel, right here in Delaware County? One comes up this weekend, January 15 and 16.

The Delaware County Model Railroader Group throws open the doors of their installation once a month for visitors to experience the fun of railroading on a smaller scale. At the Sandel Legacy Trail House, view model trains (HO scale) travel through a miniature village and countryside.

You will also have the ability to talk to the Group’s model railroaders who can share their knowledge about railroading in America.

The first railroad reached the county in 1851 and connected the county with Cleveland and Columbus. Several stations were built on that line, which became known as the “Big Four” railroad, including in Ashley, Delaware, Lewis Center, and Ostrander.

The Sandel Legacy Trail House is located at 168 South Vernon Street in Sunbury. The event, which is free and open to all ages, runs from 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturday and 12 Noon to 4 PM on Sunday.
