The beauty of a magnificent church on New York City’s Park Avenue will be enhanced this Friday by musicians from right here in Delaware County.

The Symphonic Choir, Hayes Players, and Symphony Orchestra from Delaware Hayes High School will be performing this Friday at 2 PM. The setting for the performance is the National Historic Landmark St. Bartholomew’s Church.

Commonly referred to as “St. Bart’s,” the church is home to a historic parish of the Episcopal Church dating from 1835. The structure is located on the east side of Park Avenue between 50th and 51st streets in Midtown Mahattan. The current church is the second on the site; the current one having been constructed in 1916 to the designs of noted architect Beteram Goodhue.

Goodhue’s large body of work includes the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln.

Rehearsals for the concert have been taking place as early as 6:45 AM each morning at Hayes. Among other works being performed is the Missa Brevis of Wolgang Amadeus Mozart.

School officials (and we are joining in) are asking anyone with connections in New York City to attend this exciting event.
