Summer is the ideal time to open a new playground, especially one which has been long-awaited.
The Freeman Road Park layground will be available for use at the end of this month. This achievement will be celebrated on July 6 at 6:30 PM in the best way possible – with popsicles and prizes.
Kids who tackle the new obstacle-course style play area will have a chance to win.
Freeman Road Park is 6.7 acres and features a shelter house with free wifi provided by Westerville Public Library (which launched in April of this year), picnic tables and grills, restroom (open year-round), a playground, sandpit excavation toy (ADA accessible), athletic fields, basketball courts and a 1/3 mile loop trail featuring a ‘Born Learning Trail’ made up of activity stations to help parents engage children in interactive games.
The new playground features ADA accessible playground surfacing. An unused asphalt surface in the rear of the park was removed and in its place, natural grasses, flowers and trees will be cultivated. Park renovations were funded through a grant from the State of Ohio.
Freeman Road Park is located in Genoa Township at 6460 Freeman Road in Westerville.
