This year we’re continuing our look at unique events and attractions that are within an easy driving distance of Delaware County. We call these “Summer Road Trips.” Of course, we regularly feature the many extraordinary places to visit right here in Delaware County and encourage our readers to get out and experience what is on offer in our own backyard.

Celebrating Delaware County’s only native born US President, we always include a look each year for at least one event taking place at the Hayes Presidential Library and Museum in Fremont, home to President and Mrs. Hayes’ magnificent house, Spiegel Grove.

Celebrate First Lady Lucy Hayes’ birthday with a weekend of hands-on activities, a flower-arranging class and more on Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28, at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums.

Activities include a scavenger hunt, craft projects, birthday tea and hands-on artifact opportunities.

The first lady would have turned 191 on Sunday, August 28. Activities chosen reflect her interests, from making flower arrangements for friends and White House state dinners to butterflies, birds and other aspects of nature.

First Lady Lucy Hayes’ Birthday Celebration is sponsored by Albrechta & Coble LTD.
