As autumn leaves begin to flutter to the ground, and the scent of pumpkin spice wafts in the air, there’s an undeniable excitement building up in Delaware County. The spooky season is here with Halloween right around the corner. For many children, this means eagerly choosing costumes, dreaming of haunted houses, and counting down the days for trick-or-treating. However, for some families, the holiday can bring the stress of added expenses.

Thankfully, for the families in need within our community, the United Way of Delaware County’s “Strengthening Families” initiative is hosting a special event that’s all about ensuring every child has a chance to partake in the Halloween fun.

A Generous Gesture

The Halloween Costume Distribution event aims to help those in need, offering free Halloween costumes for children aged 3 to 12. This generous initiative is designed to ensure that every child gets to experience the joy of dressing up and celebrating Halloween without any financial constraints holding them back.

Community Collaboration

This heartwarming endeavor is brought to life with the support and collaboration of the Liberty Tree Elementary ROOTS Service Club. Their commitment showcases the unity of our community and the belief that every child deserves a memorable Halloween. From witches and wizards to superheroes and fairies, the event promises a diverse range of costumes that will surely bring smiles to young faces.

Event Details

The costume distribution will take place on Monday, October 23, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. It’s crucial to note that children must be present to receive a costume. Costumes are available both new and gently used, ensuring a variety of choices for the little ones. However, they are offered while supplies last, so it’s advisable to arrive early. The event location is the Strengthening Families at Willis Education Center at 74 W. William St., on the 2nd Floor, Room 212.

A Call to the Community

With the big day nearing, if you’re aware of a child in need, do spread the word to their parent or caregiver about this wonderful opportunity. After all, the magic of Halloween lies in the community coming together, making sure every child has a costume to wear, a story to tell, and memories to cherish.
