The Delaware Area Career Center (DACC) is excited to announce the upcoming launch of its Broadband Infrastructure Training Program (BITP), designed to cater to the rising demand for skilled professionals in the broadband and telecommunications sector. This program provides adults with an opportunity to transition into a burgeoning career field or enhance their existing skills.

Class Information and Registration

Classes for the BITP at DACC will commence in September, and registration is currently open through OhioMeansJobs. Interested individuals can find more information about available funding and register here.

Why Consider a Career in Broadband Infrastructure?

The BITP offers a pathway to a thriving industry with compelling income potential. According to the May 2021 State Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates for Ohio, salaries in this field range from $48,510 for Telecommunications Line Installers and Repairers to $71,750 for First-Line Supervisors of Mechanics, Installers, and Repairers. The program also prepares students for other lucrative roles, such as Broadband Equipment Installation Technicians, Fiber Optic Cable Installers, and Broadband Equipment Troubleshooters & Technicians.

What Will Participants Learn?

The BITP curriculum is meticulously designed to provide participants with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills necessary for success in the broadband infrastructure field. Key learning components include:

  • Specialty Tools and Test Equipment: Students will learn to use a variety of tools and test equipment specific to broadband infrastructure.
  • Cable Termination: Training will cover the termination of cables for various applications, ensuring that students are adept at handling different types of cable installations.
  • Safe Work Practices: Emphasis on safety is paramount, with students being taught best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Broadband Equipment Installations: Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of broadband equipment installations in homes, offices, and new constructions.
  • Certification: The program prepares students to earn the FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician certification, a highly regarded credential in the industry.
