The cities of Westerville and Delaware in Delaware County are currently seeking volunteers to fill critical roles on various boards and commissions. This is an excellent opportunity for residents to get involved, shape their communities, and contribute to the decision-making process.
Westerville: Help Shape the Future of the City
Westerville is actively seeking community-minded individuals to apply for several important boards and commissions. These positions will have vacancies at the end of the year, and the city encourages residents to step up and play a role in the city’s ongoing development and success. The boards and commissions currently open for applications include:
- Planning Commission
- Board of Zoning Appeals
- Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
- Uptown Review Board
- Personnel Review Board
- Volunteer Peace Officer Dependents Fund Board
- Income Tax Board of Review
Residents interested in applying are encouraged to attend one of the board or commission meetings to familiarize themselves with the work being done. Meeting dates, times, and locations are available on the City of Westerville’s website.
Additionally, applicants are invited to attend the Boards and Commissions Open House on Tuesday, October 8, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, for an opportunity to learn more and meet current board members. Delaware: Volunteer for the New Community Authorities
The City of Delaware is also looking to fill four seats on its North and South New Community Authorities (NCAs), which manage infrastructure improvements in designated areas. These public bodies have a significant impact on local development by overseeing the financing of improvements that directly benefit property owners within their boundaries.
There are two seats available on the North NCA and two seats available on the South NCA. These are unpaid positions with a two-year term, and there are no residency requirements. The NCAs meet just once a year, typically during the workday, for about 30 minutes or less.
