Earlier this month the Powell Police Department held its annual staff meeting and recognized staff for their efforts from 2024.

Officer of the Year

Officer Jillian Elliott led the department in overall activity and was one of the top officers in the number of traffic stops, preventative patrols, and business checks. Ofc. Elliot also assisted training five new police officers, assisted Det. Wilt with the installation of 58 child safety seats, acted as an officer-in-charge, evidence technician, Ohio Crime Prevention Association member, conducted quarterly police facility inspections, assisted with planning for Shop with a Hero, and acted as the Officer Bargaining Unit Representative, where she participated in quarterly labor management meetings and frequent discussions about collective bargaining issues.

Meritorious Service Awards

Sergeant Tyler McGraw, Officers Ken Hiltz, Josh Waymire, Brandon Phenix, and Robert Brown were recognized for their outstanding act of providing life-saving measures to extend the life of a teenager, who had attempted to commit suicide.

Service Awards

Chief Ron Sallows (25 Years) and Officer Jared Wilt (20 Years) were honored for their dedicated service to the department and community.

The meeting also included recognition of several officers who received Letters of Recognition, including Sergeant Cook, Detective Sergeant Pentz, Detective Audrey Wilt, Officers Fred Hart, Josh Waymire, Brandon Phenix, and Jillian Elliott for their response and investigation related to a fatal traffic crash situation.
