Residents will have a chance to review early plans for the Central Avenue Improvement Project during a public open house on Thursday, November 13, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Conger Elementary School, 10 Channing Street.

What’s Being Proposed

The City of Delaware, working with the Ohio Department of Transportation, is looking to rebuild the section of Central Avenue (SR 37) from Foley Street to US 42. This effort is separate from ODOT’s broader SR 37 Corridor Planning Study and focuses on mobility, safety, and long-term roadway conditions.

Key features under consideration include:

  • A new three-lane roadway
  • A sidewalk on the north side and a shared-use path on the south side
  • Upgraded intersections at Channing Street and Winter Street
  • New street lighting and utility improvements
  • Bike lane improvements along Winter Street from Lake Street to Central Avenue

These changes aim to improve the experience for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians while addressing pavement issues along a busy east–west corridor. Construction could begin as early as summer 2028 and is expected to take about one year.

Public Input

City staff and project team members will be available during the open house to answer questions and gather feedback. Written comments may be submitted through December 13.

Project materials and additional details are available on the information page:
