A fall calendar can make room for ancient buildings, baseball history, or a closer look at places just down the road.
Ohio Wesleyan University’s Lifelong Learning Institute has opened registration for 12 fall courses for Delaware County residents ages 55 and older. The term runs October 5 through November 13, with a $75 registration fee covering as many courses as participants wish to take, subject to available space. The program brings together volunteer instructors, including retired professors and other specialists, for learning in a relaxed setting. Most courses meet in person.
Follow An Interest Somewhere New
The choices range from architectural engineering to the writers of the Concord circle. One course explores how builders created arches, vaults, domes, and other structures long before modern construction equipment.
Another session looks at Branch Rickey, the Ohio Wesleyan graduate whose career helped reshape baseball. A watercolor course at the Ross Art Museum provides materials and welcomes people without previous painting experience.
The schedule also includes presentations on bird behavior during the 2024 solar eclipse, artificial intelligence, and passenger rail in central Ohio. An exploration course takes learning into the community, with visits listed for places including Stratford Ecological Center, Seminary Hill Farm, and Delaware’s water plant. Fall course descriptions.

Registration closes September 25 at 5:00 PM. Some classes meet for only part of the term, and locations vary. Help With The Cost
A limited number of $50 scholarships can reduce the registration cost for eligible applicants. Applications are due September 23 and are considered in the order received; assistance is not guaranteed. Applicants must be Delaware County residents age 55 or older and meet the program’s household income requirements. Those limits and the application link are available on the LLI scholarship page.
