Just in time for the post-holidays clean-out, the City of Delaware, in partnership with the Delaware General Health District and the DKMM Solid Waste District, is offering residents an opportunity to recycle electronics in exchange for LED bulbs and/or LED string lights on January 4.
Items such as music players, cell phones, laptops, vacuums, microwaves, cables, and chargers are all accepted.
The following guidelines will be in place:
- Proof of residency required (utility bill or license)
- All items free to recycle – except TVs and CRT monitors:
- LCD/LED/Plasma TV — $20
- All other TVs — $40
- CRT Monitors — $10
- Fees payable by cash or check only
- Not accepting alkaline batteries or appliances containing Freon (such as refrigerators)
- Limit one LED giveaway per household, while supplies last
