We’re excited to bring a new dimension to coverage of timely matters that impact Delaware Countians and all Ohioans.
As we shared a few weeks ago, 1808Delaware is now a part of LION (Local Independent Online News) Publishers, which is creating the future of local news through locally owned and operated news organizations that directly serve their communities.
Since we became LION members, we have engaged with publishers across the country operating sites very much like ours. Some of have been doing so for many years and have built robust operations that are having success in connecting their readers with stories which can help them become more fully informed.
Through LION, we have become aware and are now connected with the Associated Press’ Report for America initiative.
Report for America has placed 17 journalists in statehouses across the country, one of which is reporting from Columbus. Each is reporting on timely issues that resonate within that particular state. 1808Delaware is now able to share those stories with our readers to supplement our own coverage.
We shared our first Report for America post on Sunday, which dealt with the possible creation of a police disciplinary database in Ohio. Stay tuned for additional stories.
