Special to 1808Delaware

Early in 2020, the City of Delaware allocated parking spaces for temporary curbside pickup as part of our COVID business response effort.

Since then, we have seen how these spots have positively affected our downtown businesses. That is why the City has designated 23 “Grab-N-Go” parking spots in areas close to restaurants and/or retailers where purchased items can be picked up curbside.

These 23 spots are now permanent pickup spaces. Each accommodates one vehicle and encourages quick turnover (no more than 15 minutes) to support active pick ups. As stated, these pickup zones are for both restaurants and retailers.

Location Break Down

Sandusky Street, between William and Winter Street
You will find six curbside zones on this street (3 on each side) due to high traffic. These spots are placed strategically to incorporate all four corners, with one spot within the middle These locations will accommodate retailers and restaurants but allow easy accessibility for customers. The corner spots also allow for curbside access to businesses on Winter and William Streets.

Sandusky Street, from Winter to Central Avenue
You will find two curbside zones – one located on either side of Sandusky. These spots accommodate retailers and restaurants located on the street, with the ease of pulling directly into the corner spot.

Sandusky Street, from William to Spring
You will find three curbside zones – all located on the west side of Sandusky. Two of the three spots are located on the corner, with one being in the middle.

William Street, from Sandusky to Franklin
You will find four curbside zones – two on either side of William to accommodate restaurants and retailers.

Winter Street, between Franklin Street and Union Street
You will find eight curbside zones, four on each side of Sandusky. These locations are within proximity to all retailers and restaurants on that street, while allowing ease to park for customers.
