Here’s a detailed update from the City of Delaware on the ongoing and upcoming construction projects in the area this week:

Sawmill Parkway Extension

The new roundabout at Sawmill Parkway and S. Section Line Road is now fully open, with no more detours. Final incidental work within the project area will continue over the next several weeks but is not expected to impact traffic.

W. William St. & Carson Farms Blvd. Traffic Signal

A new traffic signal at this intersection was activated on Friday, September 13. Additional incidental work is expected to continue for the next couple of weeks.

The Point Improvements

Temporary railroad bridge steel girders were successfully installed on September 10. Traffic has been switched to the newly completed south side of the median. Bowtown Road remains closed at SR 36/37 but is accessible from SR521. The current traffic pattern will remain in place until the end of the year, as road and track work on the north side continues.

Pennsylvania Avenue Paving

Resurfacing work resumed with road widening for a new turn lane at Heritage Boulevard. Following this, final paving will be conducted along Pennsylvania Avenue, with shared-use path and sidewalk improvements expected to be completed by November.

Pittsburg Drive Resurfacing

Repaving work on Pittsburg Drive between Houk Road and S. Section Line Road started this week. Roadway paving will follow the completion of pavement repairs.

Noble-Ross-David-Eaton Paving

All roadway paving has been completed, with incidental work including sidewalks and pavement markings ongoing over the next two weeks.

Colomet Drive Reconstruction

Asphalt paving occurred last week, with all project work expected to be completed within the next two weeks.

E. Central Avenue Turn Lane at Milo Street

Before the fair, new curbs, sidewalks, and pavement to widen Central Avenue at Milo Street were completed. Final paving is scheduled for next week.

Liberty Road Culvert Replacement

Liberty Road between W. Hull Drive and Slack Road is closed for culvert replacement for 45 days, with traffic detoured via nearby major routes.

Citywide Crack Seal Program

The second phase of crack sealing on local streets will take place in October.

W. Central Avenue Tree Removal

The eastbound section is closed for tree removal between Elizabeth Street and N. Liberty Street, with a detour in place.

Columbia Gas Pennsylvania Avenue & Heffner Street Area

Gas main connections are ongoing in this area, with continued gas main and service line work over the next few weeks.
