As Delaware continues to grow, city leaders are asking residents to help answer an important question: What should the community look and feel like in the years ahead?
The City of Delaware is inviting residents, business owners, property owners, and other stakeholders to participate in a public survey focused on Architectural Design Standards. The effort is aimed at gathering community input on the design features, architectural elements, and historic character that residents believe should be preserved as new development and redevelopment take place.
Balancing Growth And Identity
Delaware has seen steady change, with new housing, commercial development, and reinvestment shaping different parts of the city. As that growth continues, officials are working to develop design guidelines that reflect the community’s priorities while helping protect the character that makes Delaware distinctive.
The survey asks participants to share their thoughts on the city’s architectural identity and identify the features they consider most important to maintain. Feedback may include views on building materials, scale, historic patterns, streetscape features, and other design elements that contribute to Delaware’s sense of place.
Public Input To Guide Future Standards
City leaders say the input gathered through the survey will help guide the development of future architectural design guidelines. The goal is to ensure that any standards developed are rooted in community values and reflect what residents want to see protected for future generations. The survey is open now, and all community members are encouraged to participate. Residents can complete the survey online at: https://tinyurl.com/DG-Survey
