The City of Delaware’s Director of Public Works, Bill Ferrigno, has received a high honor from the American Public Works Association (APWA) Ohio Chapter. During Monday’s City Council meeting, Ferrigno was presented with the Clyde “Butch” Seidle Public Works Servant Leader Award, an accolade that recognizes outstanding leadership and commitment to public service.

Honoring a Legacy of Leadership

Named in memory of Clyde “Butch” Seidle, a highly respected figure in Ohio’s public works community, the award is reserved for individuals who exemplify integrity, dedication, and excellence in municipal service.

Ferrigno, now in his 30th year with the City of Delaware, has played a pivotal role in shaping the city’s infrastructure. He served as City Engineer until earlier this year and has led the Public Works Department for the past decade, continuing to make significant contributions to the city’s growth and development.

Commitment to Innovation and Mentorship

The APWA recognized Ferrigno for his expertise in operations management, mentorship, and fostering a culture of innovation within the Public Works Department. His leadership has encouraged his team to embrace collaboration and continuous improvement, ensuring that the city’s infrastructure evolves to meet the needs of a growing community.

Transforming Delaware’s Infrastructure

Over the course of his career, Ferrigno has helped guide Delaware through an 80 percent population increase, ensuring that public works services and infrastructure keep pace with this rapid growth. His contributions include major road and utility projects that have strengthened the city’s ability to serve residents efficiently and sustainably.

A Well-Deserved Recognition

Delaware City Manager Paul Brake praised Ferrigno’s leadership and dedication, emphasizing the profound impact of his work.

“Bill’s leadership and commitment to excellence have greatly impacted our operations and the community,” Brake said. “He represents the spirit of servant leadership, always putting the public’s needs first and striving to improve the services we provide.
