The Main Street Delaware Farmers’ Market will have a new look this season, and a more prominent place in the heart of downtown.

Beginning Saturday, May 23, the market will move directly into the street, with vendors setting up along Sandusky Street between William Street and Winter Street. The change means that stretch of Sandusky Street will close on Saturday mornings during market hours, creating a larger, more walkable setting for shoppers, vendors, and downtown visitors.

The market will run from 9:00 AM to noon each Saturday through October 31.

More room for vendors and visitors

Main Street Delaware announced the move as a way to create a safer and more spacious market experience while keeping the event centered in the historic downtown district. The organization coordinated the new layout with the City of Delaware and the Delaware Police Department. By moving vendors into the roadway, the market is expected to offer more room for browsing, strolling, and gathering while also supporting nearby downtown businesses.

For shoppers, the familiar Saturday morning mix will remain: fresh produce, handmade goods, honey, plants, flowers, meat, eggs, and other local products. The difference will be the setting, with the market more fully woven into the street life of downtown Delaware.

Keeping the market downtown

For Main Street Delaware, the move also reflects a larger goal: strengthening the downtown district as a place where people shop, gather, and spend time. The Farmers’ Market has become one of downtown Delaware’s recurring seasonal anchors, drawing residents and visitors into the city center on Saturday mornings. Placing the market directly on Sandusky Street gives it a more visible footprint and reinforces downtown’s role as a walkable community destination.

The new setup is intended to allow the market to continue growing while preserving the sense of place that has helped make it a downtown tradition.

A season supported by local partners

Main Street Delaware also recognized the 2026 Farmers’ Market investors helping support this year’s season: The First Citizens National Bank, OhioHealth, Marzetti, Performance Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Delaware, Marysville Motorsports, and Willow Brook Christian Communities.

The first market of the season is set for Saturday, May 23, from 9:00 AM to noon. The weekly market will continue every Saturday through October 31.
