Special to 1808Delaware

Liberty Township is working with consultant Holly Mattei of Crossroads Community Planning in developing “Liberty 2040”, which will include a series of goals, objectives, recommendations and actions steps that will help guide land use, housing, infrastructure, and policy decisions over the next few decades.

There will be a broad, 12-month public participation plan that will kick off in January 2022. This includes a Community Committee comprised of residents, business owners, schools and representatives from other key community organizations.

We need resident representatives! The Township is now accepting applications for two residents from each quadrant of the Township to represent their area and to provide input to Ms. Mattei and the Committee.  Resident representatives must be able to commit to attending one evening meeting per month (during 2022) and to being actively engaged in this process.

Interested residents are asked to complete our on-line application. Selections will be made through a blind-review process to ensure fair and equitable representation on the committee.

There will be numerous other public engagement opportunities, such as a series of neighborhood-level meetings will be held in each quadrant over the year-long planning process to provide a more intimate setting and more insightful conversations between Ms. Mattei and our residents and community wide open houses.

Community input is essential to the planning process and we are dedicated to providing opportunities for our residents and stakeholders to guide the planning process.

Visit the Liberty 2040 webpage for more information and updates on this process.
