Today we share an update on happenings in the village of Ashley. As the weather and the leaves turn, this northern Delaware County community is a very busy place.

Renewal of General Fund Tax on the Ballot

The Village of Ashley is set to renew a tax that directly benefits its general fund. This renewal, which will appear on the ballot, aims to collect an estimated $78,000 annually. The tax rate is capped at 6 mills for each dollar of taxable value, translating to $167 for every $100,000 of the county auditor’s appraised value. The five-year term for this tax will commence in 2023 and will be first due in the calendar year 2024.

Spooky Delights: Trick or Treat Night

Mark your calendars for a night of spooky fun! The Village of Ashley will host its annual Trick or Treat event on October 31 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Children and adults alike are encouraged to don their most creative costumes and roam the streets in search of treats.

Friends of Ashley Fall Street Fair

The Friends of Ashley Fall Street Fair is scheduled for November 4 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The fair will be held at various locations throughout the Village. Interested vendors can pick up an application at the Wornstaff Library. For any questions, contact Amee Sword at 740-747-2085 or via email at [email protected].

Coffee and Conversations with the Chief

Residents have the opportunity to engage in a casual coffee chat with Village Police Chief Santos. The event will take place at the Wornstaff Memorial Public Library on October 11 at 10:30 AM. This is a great chance to discuss community issues and get to know the local law enforcement better.

Important Notices for Residents

  • Hydrant Flushing: The Elm Valley Joint Fire District will conduct hydrant flushing and annual flow testing from October 16 to 27. Residents are advised to avoid laundry during this period due to potential water discoloration.
  • Community Events:
    • Meet the Candidates at the Library on October 11 at 6:30 PM.
    • BPA Meeting on October 17 at 7:00 PM.
    • BV Halloween Parade and Coloring Contest deadlines are both on October 27.
