Helicopters, fire engines, boats, buses and a monster truck will take over the grounds of Olentangy Berlin High School later this month as one of Delaware County’s largest family events returns.
Ohio’s Biggest and Best Touch-a-Truck will be held Saturday, July 25, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the school, located at 3140 Berlin Station Road in Delaware, a free event sponsored by the Delaware County Emergency Medical Services Department and the Berlin Township Fire Department.
Nearly 100 Vehicles to Explore
Approximately 100 public-service and commercial vehicles are expected to participate, giving children and adults an opportunity to see equipment they might otherwise encounter only from a distance. The lineup is expected to include emergency vehicles, construction and farm equipment, boats, buses and helicopters, weather permitting. One of the largest attractions will be a monster truck equipped with tires measuring more than 5 feet tall.
The event will once again be conducted without horns, creating a quieter environment for visitors who may be sensitive to loud or sudden noises.
More Than a Display
Touch-a-Truck will also offer visitors a chance to learn practical emergency skills. Delaware County EMS personnel will provide hands-only CPR and bleeding-control instruction, along with demonstrations of equipment used by first responders. Several local food trucks will be stationed at the event, allowing attendees to purchase meals and refreshments throughout the morning.
Donations Will Help Local Families
Visitors are encouraged to bring canned food items or new box fans for People In Need, Inc. of Delaware County. The organization will collect the donations during the event and distribute them to residents who need food assistance or help staying cool during the summer months.
Thousands Expected to Attend
An estimated 5,000 people attended Touch-a-Truck in each of the past two years, and organizers are preparing for another large turnout. Promotion of this year’s event will again include CBUS Media Group, the parent company of official radio sponsor Sunny 95.
