Ohio boaters hoping to lock in their spot for the 2026 season at two of central Ohio’s most popular state parks — Alum Creek and Delaware — now have their chance.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has officially opened the 2026 state park boat dock lottery, offering slips at 16 lakes and reservoirs across the state. The application deadline is 11:59 PM on October 31.

“Ohio’s state park lakes and reservoirs are some of the most beautiful places to get out on the water,” said ODNR Director Mary Mertz. “The boat dock lottery opens up more opportunities for people to enjoy these shared spaces, whether that means quiet mornings fishing or weekends spent with family and friends.”

Alum Creek and Delaware: Prime Boating Destinations

Both Alum Creek State Park and Delaware State Park are among the most sought-after locations for boaters in central Ohio.

  • Alum Creek offers expansive waters, scenic coves, and easy access from the Columbus area. It’s a top choice for both fishing and recreational boating.
  • Delaware State Park, just north of the city of Delaware, features calm waters ideal for family outings, plus a marina with close access to park amenities and campgrounds.

Slips at these parks are in high demand, and the lottery provides a fair, open way for more Ohioans to secure access.

How to Apply

To enter, you’ll need:

  • Proof of boat ownership (title)
  • Current watercraft registration

You can apply to more than one park, but only one application per household is allowed per location. If selected, you’ll have the option to renew your dock annually each spring for up to five years.
