At their meeting on Wednesday, the Delaware County Transit Board (DCTB) voted to give free transportation to Delaware County residents needing to get their COVID vaccine.

Board member Richard Schrock said, “We represent a community service and it is our responsibility to make sure that transportation is not a barrier to getting a COVID-vaccine. I’ve seen first-hand in a nursing home how getting the vaccination can impact lives and having transportation available to those who need it is a vital piece”.

The rides will be provided to vaccination sites that passengers can physically go in to. We are not able to provide rides to drive-thru locations. Rides are available during DCT’s normal operating hours Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 6:00 pm. Trips must be scheduled by at least before noon the day before and can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance. Both of the trip ends must be within Delaware County.

Free rides will be available until July 31st. To schedule a ride, you can call 740-363-3355 from 9 AM to 4 PM or request the trip on-line at www.delcotransit.com.
