Earlier this year, the Ohio Department of Transportation set out to answer a question which thousands of Delaware Countians ask on a regular basis.

Is there a way to improve traffic flow on US Route 23 as it goes through the county?

ODOT and partners MORPC and the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments have set out to determine the feasibility of a non-impeded connection between Toledo and Columbus, the main bottleneck of which is between Waldo in Marion County and I270 in Franklin County.

A key piece in this is the Delaware Regional Connection Study, which will look at options, including those to the east and west of the current path of US Route 23. It’s known as “Route 23 Connect.”

Public meetings took place last year to discuss the study results. Due to the amount of interest in the Route 23 Connect Study, however, ODOT has added two more public meeting opportunities to learn about the project – one in-person and one virtual. The information shared will be the same as in the earlier meetings.

  • In-person: January 19 at 6PM – Delaware County Fairgrounds on Pennsylvania Avenue
  • Virtual: January 27 at 12 Noon – publicinput.com/23connect or 855-925-2801 Code 4637

The comment period has also been extended until February 28. You can do so here. More information on the proposed changes is here.
