This weekly report from ODOT District 6 highlights road construction projects which are beginning or underway in the multi-county area it serves. What follows are posted projects taking place within Delaware and Franklin Counties. Please stay safe and pay attention to these closures and work taking place during the week beginning on October 23.

DELAWARE COUNTY

U.S. Route 23

CONTINUING IMPACTS

U.S. 23 northbound and southbound between U.S. 42 and Pennsylvania Ave. will have various daily lane restrictions (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.) starting Monday, October 17 through Tuesday, November 1 for bridge repairs.

U.S. Route 42

CONTINUING IMPACTS

U.S. 42 northbound between Klondike and Section Line-Rd. will close starting Monday, August 29 for 84 days. Detour: SR 257 northbound to U.S. 36 eastbound to U.S. 23 southbound to U.S. 42.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

Freshwater Rd. at U.S. 42 will close starting Monday, October 17 for 42 days. Detour: Klondike Rd. to Bean-Oller Rd. to S. Section-Line Rd. to U.S. 42

State Route 750

CONTINUING IMPACTS

SR 750 Resurfacing – SR 750 between SR 315 and Sawmill Rd. will have nightly lane restrictions (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, September 18 through October 2022.


FRANKLIN COUNTY

NEW IMPACTS

James Rd. northbound and southbound between I-70 and U.S. 33 will have daily lane restrictions (6 a.m. – 6 p.m.) starting Monday, October 24 through November 2022 for pavement repairs.

Interstate 670

NEW IMPACTS

I-670 eastbound and westbound between Grandview Ave. and Neil Ave. will have nightly lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, October 23 through Saturday, October 29.

Interstate 270

NEW IMPACTS

  • I-270 northbound and southbound between Noe Bixby Rd. and Livingston Ave. will have nightly lane restrictions (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, October 23 through Thursday, October 27.
  • The I-270 southbound ramp to I-70 eastbound on the east side will close overnight (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Sunday, October 23.
    • Detour: I-270 southbound to U.S. 33 to I-270 northbound to I-70 eastbound.
  • The I-270 southbound ramp to I-70 westbound on the east side will close overnight (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Monday, October 24.
    • Detour: I-270 southbound to U.S. 33 to I-270 northbound to I-70 westbound.

Interstates 70/71 Reconstruction – I-70/71 will experience lane restrictions through downtown Columbus to widen and reconstruct the roadway, replace bridges over the interstate, rebuild ramps, and construct new urban avenues parallel to the interstate. Various downtown ramps will permanently close. Estimated completion: Fall 2025

  • I-71 southbound between I-670 and Broad St. will have overnight lane restrictions (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Sunday, October 23.
  • The I-670 westbound ramp to I-71 southbound will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Sunday, October 23.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-71.
  • I-70 westbound between I-71 and SR 315 will close for the weekend starting 11 p.m., Friday, October 28 through 5 a.m., Monday, October 31.
    • Detour: I-70 westbound to I-71 northbound to I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-70.
  • I-70 eastbound at SR 315 will close for the weekend starting 11 p.m., Friday, October 28 through 5 a.m., Monday, October 31.
    • Detour: I-70 eastbound to SR 315 northbound to I-670 eastbound to I-71 southbound to I-70.
  • The Front St. bridge over I-70 will close at 9 a.m. Friday, October 28 for bridge replacement until Spring 2025.
    • Detour: W. Sycamore St. to High St. to Mound St. OR Main St. to High St. to W. Sycamore St.
  • I-70 westbound between Miller/Kelton Ave., and I-71 will have weekend lane restrictions starting 7 p.m., Friday, October 28 through 5 a.m., Monday, October 31.
  • The 3rd St. ramp to I-70 westbound will close for the weekend starting 8 p.m., Friday, October 28 through 5 a.m., Monday, October 31.
    • Detour: Fulton St. eastbound to 4th St. northbound to Rich St. westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-70 westbound.
  • The Mound St. ramp to I-70 westbound will close for the weekend starting 9 p.m., Friday, October 28 through 5 a.m., Monday, October 31.
    • Detour: 2nd St. northbound to U.S. 62 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-70 westbound.
  • The I-670 westbound ramp to I-71 southbound will close for the weekend starting 9 p.m., Friday, October 28 through 5 a.m., Monday, October 31.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-71 southbound.
  • I-71 southbound between Broad St. and I-70 will have weekend lane restrictions starting 9 p.m., Friday, October 28 through 5 a.m., Monday, October 31.
  • The I-71 southbound ramp to Main St. will close for the weekend starting 10 p.m., Friday, October 28 through 5 a.m., Monday, October 31.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to 3rd St. southbound to Main St.
  • The I-71 southbound ramp to I-70 westbound/I-71 southbound will close for the weekend starting 11 p.m., Friday, October 28 through 5 a.m., Monday, October 31.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-71 southbound.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • Souder Ave. between Mound St. and Thomas Ave. closed starting June 20, 2022 for one year.
    • Southbound detour: Davis Ave. northbound to Sullivant Ave. westbound to Glenwood Ave. southbound to Mound St. eastbound
    • Northbound detour: Mound St. westbound to Glenwood Ave. northbound to Sullivant Ave. eastbound.
  • The I-70 eastbound exit ramp to Front St. closed permanently June 17, 2022 so crews can construct a new exit ramp. The detour is I-70 east to Livingston Ave. to N. 4th St. to W. Mound St. to High St. or Front St. To access the Franklin County Court House parking garage on Front St., drivers should follow the detour to southbound High St. and continue to Sycamore St. to northbound Front St.
  • W. Fulton St. closed permanently June 17, 2022 between Short St. and Ludlow St.
  • Livingston Ave. closed to through traffic at City Park Ave. on June 17, 2022 until Fall 2024. Traffic coming from the exit ramp will not be impacted.
  • The traffic pattern on the ramp from SR 315 south to I-70 east changed June 17. Instead of SR 315 south traffic remaining in its own lane to join I-70 east, traffic coming from SR 315 south will have to merge with I-70 east traffic. This pattern will be in effect for a little more than a year.
  • The I-70 eastbound ramp to SR 315 northbound closed permanently March 20, 2022. Drivers coming from I-270 on the West Side should use I-670 east to access SR 315 north. Alternate routes include:
    • I-70 east to I-71 north to I-670 west to SR 315 north
    • Central Ave. to McKinley Ave to Grandview Ave. to I-670 east to SR 315 north
    • Rich/Town St. to SR 315 north
  • Beginning October 7th, Front St. converted to two-way traffic between W. Mound St. and W. Fulton St.
