For the second consecutive day, Ohio is reporting fewer than 1,000 new confirmed coronavirus cases.

On Sunday, the Ohio Department of Health reported 916 new cases, bringing Ohio’s total to 88,134.

Through Friday, Ohio had reported more than 1,000 new cases in 23 of the past 24 days, including Thursday’s pandemic record of 1,649.

In addition, the state is also reporting 4,897 “probable cases,” which is an expanded case definition provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That number is 29 higher than in Saturday’s report.

Statewide, 10,900 people have been hospitalized to date, 2,560 of whom were placed in intensive care units. Those numbers are up 43 and three from Saturday’s report.

There also have been 3,261 confirmed deaths to date, along with another 268 “probable deaths.” The confirmed deaths total increased by 15 since Saturday.

Of the confirmed cases, ODH says 62,275 are “presumed recovered.” That number is 1,026 higher than reported on Saturday.
