1808Delaware is now providing regular weekend reports on road project work being conducted under the auspices of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) in Delaware and Franklin Counties.
Such work is, of course, weather dependent. This past week, ODOT District 6 shared announcements of current and upcoming work in the area.
DELAWARE
State Route 605
CONTINUING IMPACTS
- The intersection of SR 605 and Fancher Rd. will close starting Monday, May 13 for 40 days for roundabout construction.
- SR 605 detour: SR 605 to SR 37 to U.S. 62 to SR 605 or reverse.
- Fancher Rd. detour: Fancher Rd. to Schleppi Rd. to Walnut St. to Hoover Rd. or reverse.
U.S. Route 36/State Route 37
CONTINUING IMPACTS
- North Galena Rd. at U.S. 36/SR 37 will close starting Tuesday, March 5th for 100 days for intersection improvements.
- Detour: Wilson Rd. to U.S. 36/SR 37
- Starting March 4 there will be a new traffic pattern in place on U.S. 36/SR 37 at the I-71 interchange for reconstruction of the bridge over I-71.
- Left turns from U.S. 36/SR 37 to the I-71 on-ramps are restricted
- Temporary RCUT lanes will be in use at Wilson Road and in front of McDonald’s for U.S. 36 traffic seeking access to the I-71 on-ramps
- U.S. 36 Westbound will be reduced to two lanes
- U.S. 36 Eastbound will be reduced to one lane
- Turning movements for traffic on the I-71 off-ramps will be maintained
- U.S. 36/SR 37 is reduced to one lane in each direction between the railroad bridge and Sky View Lane/Glenview Commons. Eastbound traffic will be shifted north, with both directions of traffic maintained in the existing westbound lanes. This traffic pattern will remain in place through Spring 2024.
- Access to driveways and property will be maintained, however left turns will be restricted for driveways as well as Bowtown Road traffic during peak travel times (7 AM – 9 AM, 4 PM – 6 PM). Left turns at SR 521 will be maintained throughout the phase.
FRANKLIN
Interstate 270
NEW IMPACTS
- I-270 in both directions at the U.S. 23 interchange on the south side will have various overnight lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Tuesday, June 18 through Saturday, June 22.
- The U.S. 23 northbound ramp to I-270 eastbound on the south side will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Tuesday, June 18.
- Detour: I-270 westbound to U.S. 62 to I-270 eastbound.
- The U.S. 23 southbound ramp to I-270 eastbound on the south side will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Tuesday, June 18.
- Detour: SR 317 to Alum Creek Dr. to I-270 eastbound.
Interstate 70
UPCOMING NEW IMPACTS
- Courtright Rd. over I-70 will close starting 7 a.m. Monday, July 8 for 90 days for bridge work.
- Detour: Groves Rd. to Hamilton Rd. to Livingston Ave. to Courtright Rd. or reverse.
Super Load
NEW IMPACTS

Interstates 70/71 Reconstruction
I-70/71 will experience lane restrictions through downtown Columbus to widen and reconstruct the roadway, replace bridges over the interstate, rebuild ramps, and construct new urban avenues parallel to the interstate. Various downtown ramps will permanently close. Estimated completion: Fall 2025

NEW IMPACTS
- I-70 westbound between I-71 and SR 315 will close for the weekend starting 10 p.m. Friday, June 14 through 5 a.m. Monday June 17 for pavement repairs.
- Detour: I-71 northbound to I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-70 westbound.
- The 2nd St. ramp to I-70 westbound will close starting 9 p.m. Friday, June 14 through 5 a.m. Monday, June 17.
- Detour: Front St. to Rich St. to SR 315 southbound to I-70 westbound.
- The 3rd St. ramp to I-70 westbound will close starting 9 p.m. Friday, June 14 through 5 a.m. Monday, June 17.
- Detour: Rich St. to SR 315 southbound to I-70 westbound.
- The I-71 southbound ramp to I-71 southbound/I-70 westbound ramp will close starting 10 p.m. Friday, June 14 through 5 a.m. Monday, June 17.
- Detour: I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-70 westbound.
- The I-70 westbound/I-71 southbound ramp to I-71 southbound will close starting 10 p.m. Friday, June 14 through 5 a.m. Monday, June 17.
- Detour: I-71 northbound to I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-71 southbound.
CONTINUING IMPACTS
- The SR 315 southbound ramp to I-70 eastbound closed for multiple years Sunday, May 19, 2024, for reconstruction of I-70 eastbound.
- Detour: I-670 eastbound to I-71 southbound to I-70 eastbound
- The I-70 eastbound exit ramp to Front St. closed permanently June 17, 2022 so crews can construct a new exit ramp. The detour is I-70 east to Livingston Ave. to N. 4th St. to W. Mound St. to High St. or Front St. To access the Franklin County Court House parking garage on Front St., drivers should follow the detour to southbound High St. and continue to Sycamore St. to northbound Front St.
- W. Fulton St. closed permanently June 17, 2022 between Short St. and Ludlow St.
- Livingston Ave. closed to through traffic at City Park Ave. on June 17, 2022 until Fall 2024. Traffic coming from the exit ramp will not be impacted.
- Beginning October 7th, 2022 Front St. converted to two-way traffic between W. Mound St. and W. Fulton St.
- The Front St. bridge over I-70 closed Saturday, October 29, 2022 for bridge replacement until Spring 2025.
- Detour: W. Sycamore St. to High St. to Mound St. OR Main St. to High St. to W. Sycamore St.
- Mound St. between 2nd St. and Civic Center Dr. closed Wednesday, September 27, 2023 through Summer 2024. Access to I-70 westbound will be maintained.
- Detour: Main St. to High St. to Sycamore St. to Short St.
- Souder Ave. between Harmon Ave. and Thomas Ave. closed Monday, May 20 for one year for bridge reconstruction.
- Detour: Mound St. to Glenwood Ave. to Sullivant Ave. to Souder Ave. or reverse.
- Short St. between Liberty Ave. and Civic Center Dr. will close starting 9 a.m., Tuesday, May 28 for two months. Access to Liberty Ave. apartments will be maintained.
- Detour: Sycamore St. to High St. to Main St. to Civic Center Dr. to Mound St. to Short St.
