Take a trip to Christmas past this December with a visit to the Victorian Christmas Open House, to be held at Delaware’s historic Nash House and presented by the Delaware County Historical Society.
Enjoy the splendor of festive seasonal decorations throughout the house, and view the elegant furnishings of a local house built in the 1870s. The decor and art from the 1880s and early 1900s are not to be missed.
The Nash House at 157 East William Street dates from 1878 and was constructed for Thomas and Mina Slatery. Thomas Slatery was a railroad clerk from Ireland; the Slaterys’ son William was born while they were living there. The house was purchased in 1885 by William Henry and Emeline Nash; the Nashes and descendants lived there until 1854, when the house was given to the Society. William Nash was a stationary engineer
The brick Italianate house’s current contents have a connection to Delaware County. The Parlor, Dining Room, Music Room, Gentleman’s Study, Children’s Room, Bedroom, and Kitchen will also be open.
