The Delaware County District Library is closing August with programs ranging from local history and book discussions to adult education, health resources and a community craft exchange.

Regular children’s storytimes are taking a break through August 31, but families can still participate in the Craft Supply Swap and visit the Delaware Public Health District’s mobile clinic. Registration is required for several programs, and availability may change. Listings below were current as of August 18.

  • Orange Morning ESOL Class, 9:00 AM to noon, Orange Branch.
  • Orange Afternoon ESOL Class, noon to 3:00 PM, Orange Branch.Both are ongoing, multilevel English classes for adults. New students must call Delaware Area Career Center Aspire at 740-203-2267 and attend an orientation.
  • Medicare New to Medicare, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Delaware Branch. This free introductory class explains Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, coverage and enrollment. Registration is required.

Thursday, August 20

  • Orange Afternoon Book Club, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Orange Branch. The August selection is The Turtle House by Amanda Churchill.
  • A Fair to Remember, 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Liberty Branch. History enthusiast Van Young will explore the architecture, inventions and spectacle of the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. Registration is required.

Friday, August 21

  • Liberty Morning ESOL Class, 9:00 AM to noon, Liberty Branch. New students must register through Aspire at 740-203-2267 and attend an orientation.
Saturday, August 22
  • Coffee Tasting with Fresh Start Café & Bakery, 11:00 AM to noon, Delaware Branch. Participants will explore coffee varieties and the differences between arabica and robusta beans. The event was full as of August 18, with a limited waitlist available.

Tuesday, August 25
  • Delaware Afternoon Book Club, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Delaware Branch. The group will discuss None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell.
  • Teen Volunteering, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, Orange Branch. Ages 13 through 17 can earn volunteer hours by helping at the library. The session was full as of August 18.

  • Craft Supply Swap Day, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Orange Branch. Families and adults can bring usable supplies or browse donated materials for a new project or hobby. The drop-in swap continues while supplies last.
