Ohio Wesleyan University is one of the nation’s best colleges for students to earn their bachelor’s degrees, according to The Princeton Review’s newly released guidebook, “The Best 388 Colleges: 2023 Edition.” Only about 14% of America’s 2,700 four-year colleges are profiled in the book.
“Our selection of the colleges in this book is based on our opinion of their academic offerings,” said Rob Franek, The Princeton Review’s editor-in-chief. “We recommend each one as an academically outstanding choice for an applicant.”
The publication also chooses its “Best Colleges” based on annual surveys of 2,000 college administrators and, for profiled schools, data from student surveys. In addition to being among The Princeton Review’s “Best Colleges” for 2023, Ohio Wesleyan is also one of 158 schools on the publication’s “Best Midwestern Colleges” list.
In its profile of the university, The Princeton Review recognizes Ohio Wesleyan for offering “the best of both worlds: the ‘smaller school’ experience of a liberal arts education along with the ‘fantastic financial aid,’ ‘scholarship money,’ and ‘opportunity to play a collegiate sport’ available at a ‘global’ university.”
Typically, 99% of Ohio Wesleyan students receive merit-based and/or need-based financial aid. The average package of merit-based and other financial aid for first-year students totals about $45,000.
Ohio Wesleyan’s 2023 Princeton Review profile also features student comments, including:
- “The professors are very diverse, like the students here, bringing different perspectives and knowledge to campus.”
- “I have had numerous professors support me in applying for grants, applying for research experiences at other universities, as well as jobs.”
- “OWU alums are very dedicated to helping provide employment to students post-graduation.”
