2024 Street and Path Maintenance Project

The City of Powell is gearing up for a significant enhancement to its transportation network with the 2024 Street and Path Maintenance Project. This ambitious initiative, the city’s largest investment in infrastructure improvements to date, aims to ensure safe and efficient movement for vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians, and other users.

Overview of the Project

The 2024 Street and Path Maintenance Program will see over $2.2 million allocated to upgrades across various locations throughout Powell. The comprehensive scope of work includes:

  • Street Repairs: Addressing damaged and deteriorating road surfaces to ensure smoother rides and reduce vehicle wear and tear.
  • Sidewalk and Shared-Use Path Enhancements: Improving accessibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Guardrail Updates: Ensuring better protection and safety on roadways.
  • Pavement Markings: Repainting and refreshing markings for better visibility and guidance.
  • Additional Related Improvements: Covering other necessary maintenance tasks to uphold infrastructure integrity.

Strawser Paving Inc., the contractor selected for this extensive project, will start mobilizing on May 19, 2024, with an expected completion by early fall. Residents and commuters can anticipate some temporary disruptions, but the long-term benefits of improved infrastructure will be well worth the short-term inconveniences.
