To honor and celebrate first responders and front line workers, the City of Powell has designated this month’s “Third Friday on the Green” event as Police & Fire Night. First responder organizations from the surrounding area will be on site with activities, tours, information, and demonstrations. The event will also offer live music, free food, and informational booths from local social service agencies.
Police & Fire Night will be held at Village Green Park (47 Hall St.) on Friday, September 16, from 6-9 pm. Admission is FREE. Donations of Knorr Rice Sides and Pasta Sides for Thanksgiving meal kits are encouraged and can be dropped off at the Powell Police Station the night of the event.
The Third Fridays on the Green series is made possible through the generous support of McClurg Properties, Jill Patricia King, Delaware County Transit, Evolve Health Pediatrics, Giant Eagle, Master Kim’s MegaKick Martial Arts, The Middlefield Banking Company, Newman Roofing, LLC, Pedego Electric Bikes Powell, and RV Wholesalers.
Powell Police Chief Stephen Hrytzik, Liberty Township Fire Department Chief Tom O’Brien, and the staff of both stations will be grilling and handing out hot dogs, donuts donated by the Powell Sertoma, and water donated by the Olentangy Rotary Club.
Columbus-based rock cover band Radio City will perform hits from the ‘80s through today from the McClurg Properties Community Stage.
- The Delaware Tactical Unit will display their armored car.
- Liberty Township Fire Department will display one of their engines.
- The Ohio State Highway Patrol will have a cruiser on display.
- Powell Police will offer guided tours of the police station and have their cruisers and Crime Scene Investigation vehicle on site.

The Powell Police are participating in the Delaware County Probate/Juvenile Court’s Fight Against Hunger Games, an annual program that assembles Thanksgiving meal kits for distribution to neighbors in need.
Powell Police have been tasked with collecting Knorr Rice Sides and Pasta Sides for the meal kits. Those interested in making a donation may drop off their food items at the Powell Police Station the night of the event.
