Career Tech Starts Early At DACC

The Delaware Area Career Center welcomed students in grades 3 through 5 and their families for Career Tech Saturday on March 21, a free, interactive event designed to spark curiosity about careers and the world of career and technical education. Held at DACC’s main campus at 4565 Columbus Pike in Delaware, the morning offered young learners an early, hands-on glimpse of the programs that await them in high school and beyond.

Students had the opportunity to register for one- or two-hour-long sessions, choosing from five unique program areas. Each session was led by DACC instructors and offered an immersive, real-world learning experience that the district is known for.

Session Offerings Included:

App Development & Programming: Students embarked on an immersive journey into video game development using the Unity game engine.
Forensics & Crime Scene Investigation: Participants explored careers in law enforcement and forensics while developing hands-on skills in fingerprinting and crime scene investigation techniques.
Digital Design: Students turned their ideas into wearable art by designing and printing their own custom t-shirts.
Pharmacy Tech: Participants stepped into the world of pharmacy, practicing skills such as medication counting and compounding in a simulated pharmacy environment.
Power Sports & Diesel Tech: Students got under the hood, exploring engines, brakes, and tire repair in this high-energy, hands-on session.

he event was open at no cost to students in grades 3–5 and their families residing in one of DACC’s partner school districts: Big Walnut Local Schools, Buckeye Valley Local Schools, Delaware City Schools, Olentangy Schools, Worthington City Schools, and Westerville City Schools.

Career Tech Saturday reflects DACC’s ongoing commitment to serving the community as a hub for career exploration at every age, from elementary students discovering their interests to adults pursuing new opportunities.
