Olentangy Local Schools has earned a spot on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Employers for Women, ranking 185th overall and 36th in the education sector. This recognition reflects the district’s ongoing efforts to create an equitable workplace, promote women in leadership, and maintain a fair working environment.

Forbes’ Annual Ranking: A Commitment to Equity

Forbes has been publishing the America’s Best Employers for Women rankings for seven years, aiming to spotlight companies and organizations that excel in promoting gender equality. This year, the list includes 600 companies across various industries. Olentangy Local Schools stands out for its dedication to creating opportunities for women, reflected in their leadership roles and efforts to close the gender wage gap.

To compile this list, Forbes partnered with Statista, a leading market research firm, to survey over 150,000 women employed at companies with at least 1,000 employees across the United States. The survey explored various aspects of workplace culture, including working environment, pay equity, parental leave, and the handling of sexual misconduct and discrimination incidents. The inclusion of responses from the past three years ensures that the rankings reflect a consistent commitment to these values.

A Comprehensive Survey Process

The survey respondents were not only asked about their current employers but also rated previous employers and other companies they were familiar with through their industry networks or personal connections. This broad approach ensured a comprehensive assessment of workplace conditions for women across the nation.

In addition to survey responses, Statista conducted in-depth research into the percentage of women in executive and board positions at each company. These data points were crucial in evaluating how well companies support women in leadership roles, a key factor in determining the final rankings.

Olentangy’s Commitment to Women’s Advancement

Olentangy Local Schools’ inclusion in this prestigious list reflects its ongoing efforts to create an inclusive and supportive environment for its female employees. By achieving a balance in leadership and ensuring equitable treatment across all levels of the organization, the district is setting a high standard within the education sector.

The district’s commitment to women’s advancement is further evidenced by its performance across various survey metrics, including pay equity and handling of workplace discrimination. These efforts not only contribute to the well-being of their employees but also serve as a model for other organizations in the education industry and beyond.
