Special to 1808Delaware

Newly-elected board member Kristy Meyer and re-elected board members Tracy Davidson and Dr. Nancy Nestor-Baker were sworn into office of the Westerville City Schools Board of Education at an organizational/regular meeting on Jan. 10.

Meyer, who serves as the board’s newest member, was born and raised in Westerville and graduated from Westerville North High School. She and her husband, Chase, moved back to Westerville to raise their daughter and son, who are attending schools in the district.

Her civic engagement includes serving as a member of Wilder Elementary’s Equity Team and founder of Sunbury Woods Neighborhood Watch. She is a member of the Friends of Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks as well as several parent-teacher organizations.

She received bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Biology and Business Administration from Heidelberg University and earned a master’s degree from James Cook University in Queensland, Australia, where she worked with Aboriginals on Natural Resource Management Issues and formed a “Greening Strategy” for all of Northern Australia, including Papua New Guinea.

Meyer is an associate director for Freshwater Future, a nonprofit committed to driving community action that strengthens policies designed to safeguard the waters of the Great Lakes region.

During the Jan. 10 meeting, Davidson was elected president while Jennifer Aultman was elected vice-president. Brief biographies of all Board members are available online at wcsoh.org/board.
