The Olentangy Local School District Board of Education has appointed Brad Rellinger to fill a vacant seat, bringing both technology leadership and local involvement to one of Ohio’s fastest-growing school systems.

Rellinger was officially appointed on March 26, stepping into the unexpired term of former board member Kevin O’Brien. His term will run through the end of 2027.

A Background Grounded in Education and Technology

Rellinger holds both a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, specializing in Management Information Systems, and a Master of Education in Classroom Technology from Bowling Green State University. His career reflects a consistent focus on the intersection of education and technology.

He has served in roles ranging from Technology Specialist and Supervisor in educational settings to Director of Operations and Technology for the Northern Buckeye Education Council. He currently serves as Chief Technology Officer for the council, a collaborative organization supporting dozens of public school districts, educational service centers, and career centers across Northwest Ohio.

Local Roots, Ongoing Involvement

Beyond his professional experience, Rellinger brings a record of local engagement within the district he now helps govern. A resident of Lewis Center, he lives with his wife and two children and has been active in school and community organizations.

His involvement includes service on the district’s Continuous Improvement Committee, four years as Treasurer of the Glen Oak Elementary PTO, and his current role as Treasurer of the Glen Oak Homeowners Association.

A Focus on Listening and Continuity

In a statement following his appointment, Rellinger emphasized both gratitude and responsibility.

“I’m so grateful and humbled to be appointed to the Olentangy Local School District Board of Education,” he said. “This community has given so much to my family, and I’m excited for the opportunity to contribute to the strong foundation this district has established. It is a privilege and a responsibility I don’t take lightly.”

He added that his initial focus will be on engagement and collaboration, noting that he looks forward to listening, learning, and working with the community to support students and maintain the district’s reputation for quality education.

Stepping Into a Growing District

Rellinger joins the board at a time when Olentangy Schools continues to navigate growth, enrollment pressures, and evolving expectations around technology in the classroom. His background suggests a particular strength in those areas, especially as districts increasingly rely on digital infrastructure and data systems to support learning and operations.

His appointment ensures continuity on the board while adding a perspective shaped by both professional expertise and firsthand experience as a parent within the district.
