Big Walnut Local Schools is now accepting kindergarten enrollment applications for the 2025-2026 school year, welcoming the Class of 2039 into its elementary programs.

The district is offering families flexibility with both half-day and full-day kindergarten options designed to accommodate varying schedules and educational preferences.

Program Options

HALF DAY KINDERGARTEN provides students with foundational learning during morning or afternoon sessions. Children will attend school from either 8:35-11:25 a.m. or 12:35-3:25 p.m., though exact times may fluctuate as transportation schedules are finalized. Students participate in one related arts class—including Art, Music, Physical Education, or STEM—every four days to optimize limited classroom instructional time.

FULL DAY KINDERGARTEN offers an extended learning environment from 8:35 a.m. to 3:25 p.m., including a scheduled lunch and recess break. Students attend one related arts class daily in addition to core curriculum instruction. The full-day program provides increased opportunities for personalized learning, academic intervention, and enrichment activities.

Both programs emphasize high-quality instruction aligned with academic standards, with interventions prioritized to keep students on track developmentally and academically.

Tuition and Financial Assistance

Full-day kindergarten tuition is set at $225 per month. Families who qualify for free or reduced lunch fees may be eligible for free or reduced tuition rates. Parents can determine eligibility by completing a form during the enrollment process.

An advance tuition payment for one month and a signed Tuition Agreement form are required at the enrollment appointment.

Registration opens February 17 and runs through March 27. The program is designed for students turning 5 years old on or before August 20.
