Final Votes Expected on Major Resolutions
Three resolutions will receive their third and final readings, including:
- Resolution 2025.14, which would award the construction contract for renovations to the lower level of the Sunbury Municipal Building to Setterlin Building Co.
- Resolution 2025.16, approving a contract with Environmental Design Group for construction administration and inspection services for the Columbus Street parking lot improvements.
- Resolution 2025.17, accepting a grant from the Ohio Department of Development to update the city’s zoning code. The resolution also commits matching funds and authorizes the City Administrator to execute necessary documents.
Second Readings to Support Ohio’s 250th Anniversary Plans
Resolution 2025.18 will come before Council for a second reading. The measure affirms Sunbury’s support for the Ohio Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial and participation in the America 250-Ohio initiative to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
New Legislative Items Introduced
Among the legislation receiving a first reading:
- Resolution 2025.19, which begins the process to add parcels to the Sunbury New Community Authority District and sets a date for the required public hearing.
- Ordinance 2025.25, proposing the designation of a specific real property improvement as a public purpose under a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) arrangement. The ordinance includes the creation of a TIF fund and a list of public infrastructure projects that would benefit from the improvement.
- Ordinance 2025.01.2 Second Amended, a revision to the city’s 2025 annual appropriations to reflect updated financial planning.
Community Reinvestment Area Expansion Continues
In its second reading, Ordinance 2025.24 would expand Sunbury’s Community Reinvestment Area (CRA), offering new opportunities for development incentives. The legislation is being considered on an emergency basis to accelerate implementation.
Charter Amendments Still on Hold
Ordinance 2025.23, which outlines proposed amendments to the City Charter recommended by the Charter Review Commission, remains tabled. If reintroduced and passed, it would place the amendments before voters on the November 4 general election ballot.
